CMWCA member Kathy Freeburn tackles a large
project for a great cause
|
|
I got the call to artists through the WCA NH site. Gnu London,
Gnu Hampshire is raising money to renovate an old school into
an art venue. I think that's a fabulous cause so I immediately
got in touch with the organizers and floated a few ideas --"Gnoodle"
was one of the early ones, but not many restaurants had signed
up.
When I heard there was an eye doctor looking to sponsor a
gnu, I suggested "Gnear Sighted" and we went from
there. It was completely a collaborative effort -- ideas went
back and forth for a few days until we finally settled on
the color and design.
|
During the process, I found I had
no shortage of ideas, only a shortage of time! Wish I could
have done more than one gnu, but working full time doesn't allow
the time required to commit beyond one beasty. I do recommend
doing such a project to everyone, especially if the cause is
as good as the New London one is. The thought of taking on something
this LARGE -- and it IS full size -- kind of scared me, but
because it did, finishing it is that much more satisfying. And
because it may benefit kids and the arts makes it that much
better! For more information
