Pastel - Painting with Broken Color workshop
Spring is a time of growth change and vibrance! Come paint pastel
using the vibrance of broken color technique. Paintings are created
in layers on a textured surface which allows wonderful manipulation
of the pastel medium . Students will be provided with reference
photographs to work from (our bring your own), Art will be created
on 9 x12 or 11 x 14 inch wallis or art spectrum boards. Students
will experience using a variety of pastel techniques including:
under painting, color techniques, layering of hard & soft
pastels. Previous introduction to pastels and some drawing knowledge
is helpful.
Students should bring: sketchbook and pencil or charcoal, a backing
board to afix 9x 12 or 11x14 inch surface to, Wallis sanded board
( Wallis paper mounted on illustration board) or Art spectrum
boards (art spectrum paper mounted on illustration board) 9 x
12 or 11 x 14 inch for painting surface , Nu pastels or Rembrandt
for underpainiting (24 color minimum), and your preferred soft
pastels (Unison, Schmincke, Sennelier, Art Spectrum etc. for overworking
, pastel blending tools or brushes, UhU or Stic Tac erasure material,
vinyl gloves, apron or smock and a lunch.
I will have some Nu PAstel and Rembrandt Pastels for underpainting
( but you will probably want a set to do your beginning painting
with) for those who have not been able to procure them. Soft Pastels
should be: Great American, Windsor Newton, Schminke or Unison.
These can be readily ordered thorughh online suppliers such as
ASW, Dick Blick, Jerrys Artarama, etc.
Roy's on Main St in Jaffrey, near the Jaffrey Civic Center, will
have NuPAstels, Wallis Board & paper and other supplies as
well as our supply list!
The class dates will be Tues Feb 13 through March 20 with a snow
date of March 27.
times are 10:30 AM - 1 PM please bring a snack or lunch . Class
fee is $85.00
