Artist Statement
The creative process and artistic expression form a divine collaboration
which result in an evocative pieces of art. I journey through life
finding sentimental artifacts which stir fond memories, then try to
incorporate them into art which will inspire others or generate similar
familial memories. Those artifacts may be of old automobiles, tired
architecture, or a meandering stream or coastal scene, but each documented
location generates a beautiful portrait and emotion. Most of my work
reflects the New England area and agriculture, both of which have
given me great strength throughout the years. I am fortunate to live
in such a beautiful area and enjoy the support of a wonderful WCA
community.
When I am not out painting en plein air in pastel or oil - I am
in my newly built Early Sunrise Studio (www.earlysunrisefineart.com)
or teaching budding artists through classes and workshops in pastel
and monotype printmaking at www.mocoart.org
I have been fortunate to have been given the opportunity recently,
to share time with elder folks who are receiving care for Alzheimer's
related illnesses. There, we share painting days, which encourage
them to capture the light and memories of their more youthful days.
It is another creative gift that touches each one of us.
